It immerses children in nature, which is crucial for them to learn about their future. We use nature to represent growth and diversity in everything around us, and our Hug-a-Bug names relate to nature and personal strengths.

Using nature with a therapeutic perspective, we hope to encourage children to explore their thoughts and emotions. These opportunities can help children share any feelings they have, such as, sadness, anger, and anxieties. We want children to open our books and engage with the characters and stories. We know that they will see themselves in our characters through the experiences in the stories, which will help them to manage their way through similar life experiences of their own. We want children to feel that they are not alone.

Hug-a-Bug World is also about supporting parents to get the best out of our books, and enhance child development. Reading books with a child provides quality time and a positive connection between adult and child. You will begin to understand how a child is beginning to see the world around them. These shared experiences allow parents and carers to educate, discuss other perspectives and provide a safe space for a child to express their emotions by telling their own stories.
