You will need:

Potato(s)

Paper
Knife (adults)
Cookie Cutters (optional)

Benefits

Potato printing will encourage the use of fine motor skills as children manipulate the potato and paint and their imagination will be expanded as they turn their prints into art.
  1. Cut a potato in half.
  2. Push a cookie cutter shape into the cut surface of the potato and use a sharp knife to cut around it. Discard the excess potato.
  3. Press the carved potato into some paint and then press firmly down onto paper to create printed shapes.

Sedric says:

A grown up will need to help shape the potato using a knife.
