Benefits

Sorting different colours is an important cognitive skill that teaches a child to notice similarities and differences and how to categorise. It helps develop order, visual perceptual thinking and memory skills.
  1. Print out our Bug Colour Sorting playsheet or draw your own.
  2. Lay out some bugs next to the sheet.
  3. Allow the child to have a go independently.
  4. Why not count how many are in each category?
  5. Further learning: try writing the name of each colour on a separate sheet. Perhaps you could use the matching coloured pen!

Sedric says:

Once you’ve sorted your bugs into colours, can you count how many are in each group?
