Benefits

The aim of this craft is for children to recognise facial expressions and talk about their feelings – ask your child how they think each of these faces feels – are they happy? Are they sad? What makes your child feel these emotions?
  1. Cut a smaller tube so that it can slide on the top of the longer tube.
  2. Draw some faces on the smaller tube. Start with the emotions that are easier to recognise; happy, sad, tired, angry, nervous. Position on the other tube.
  3. Cut out some wings from some packaging paper or any other paper you have at home.
  4. Stick the wings on to the long tube.
  5. Make some antennae using a pipe cleaner and some beads. Tape them onto the inside of the tube.
  6. Now you’re ready to spin the face and discuss the different feelings the butterfly is showing.

Sedric says:

Can you try to make the same faces as the butterfly?
