Time:

30+ Minutes

You will need:

– Paper Plates
– Scissors
– Sellotape
– Washable Paint
– Lolly stick
– Pipe cleaner
– Sticky Eyes

Benefits

This activity allows your child’s creative juices to flow, but also opens up conversation about symmetry

  1. Cut your paper plate in half, now make the edges curved to create each wing
  2. Sellotape the two wings together
  3. Now the fun part! It is time to get creative and paint your butterfly’s wings! Remember, butterflies have symmetrical wings, this means that both wings are matching!
  4. Glue a lolly stick to the centre of your butterfly (on top of the sellotape) – you can paint this too if you like!
  5. Add two eyes, and two antenna’s using a pipe cleaner.

Sedric says:

A butterfly's wings are symmetrical - this means that they are both the same!
