Let’s make a den for your favourite Hug-a-Bug!

Time:

40+ Minutes

You will need:

– Your favourite Hug-a-Bug friend
– Lots of sticks!
– One thicker small stick
– String
– Scissors
– Leaves
– Stones

Benefits

Den building offers a range of abilities to children of all ages, from physical development, to fine motor skills, and problem solving skills. Children are able to build on their learning by thinking creatively and putting their ideas into reality.

Collect lots of sticks and leaves
Using your string, tie together your sticks about 3 cm from the top
Spread the base of your sticks to create a semi circle, and put a thick stick in the middle to hold them upright
Create shelter by adding your leaves to your den, you could do the by placing them between the sticks, or you could use glue!
Using your stones, join the sticks to create a full circle for your den ( see picture 5)
Place your favourite Hug-a-Bug into their new den!
